Sea Wolves Come Up With A Clean Sweep Of The Bandits Advancing to Southern Conference Finals

The Mississippi Sea Wolves took care of business Friday night in Jackson shooting down the Bandits 3-0. A crowd of about 500 Sea Wolves fans in attendance had their brooms out as Mississippi claims the ECHL Southwest Division best-of-three championship with a sweep.

The Sea Wolves open the Southern Conference best-of-five finals 6:05 p.m. Thursday night in Greenville, South Carolina. Game two is set for 6:05 p.m. Friday night in Greenville. The Sea Wolves and Grrrowl drop the puck in game three 6:05 Sunday night (April 28th) in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. If necessary game four would be played 7:05 p.m. (April 30th) in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

The hockey game was scoreless until 11:19 of the second period when on a power play Jerome Marois ripped the puck past Bandits goalie Andrew Allan. About six minutes later Francois Fortier powered the puck in the Jackson net and the Sea Wolves could smell the Southwest Division title.

At 8:19 of the third period Brent Gauvreau put the icing on the cake delivering the Sea Wolves' third goal. Mississippi goalie Luc Belanger stopped all 28 shots on goal posting the shutout. He's won all 6 playoff games. Bandits goalie Andrew Allen stopped 26 of 29 shots on goal.

Since Sea Wolves play-by-play announcer Mike Kelly has been wearing white shoes, the Sea Wolves have won 9 consecutive games. Sea Wolves players had taken his black dress shoes and painted them white and so far the white shoes have been nothing but good luck.

The Sea Wolves should hire a security guard to watch over those shoes 24 hours a day!
