Rochon Receives One Game Suspension And The Fan's Announce Their Choice Awards

The East Coast Hockey League has suspended Mississippi Sea Wolves defenseman Patrick Rochon for one game after his actions in Game 2 of the 2002 Kelly Cup Playoffs Southwest Division Finals against the Jackson Bandits on April 13.

The league reviewed the video and said Rochon forcefully checked Jackson forward Richard Pitirri in to the boards in such a manner that he was unable to protect himself causing injury. Rochon was assessed a major penalty for boarding.

Rochon will sit out Game 3 Friday at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The Sea Wolves lead the best-of-five series 2 games to none.

Sea Wolves' Wolf Pack Booster Club Fan's Choice Awards:

  • Offensive Player of the Year & Best New Player (Francois Fortier)
  • Defensive Player of the Year (Jim Baxter)
  • Ralph Coburn Community Service Award (Colin Zulianello)
