More Seabees Return Home From War On Terror

About 300 Gulfport Seabees are back home this morning after aiding in the war against terrorism.

A second wave of seabees from Mobile Construction Batallion 133 returned to the Air Guard Base in Gulfport at about 6 a.m. Family and friends were there to welcome them back.

Most of the seabees were in Guam when the September 11th attacks occurred. Soon after, part of the battalion went to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom. Others were sent to Cuba to build holding cells for al-Qaida and Taliban prisoners.

The Seabees were the second group to return home. Not all of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 has come back to Gulfport. The augment unit is still on active duty in Puerto Rico.
