See FEMA's Preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps

Residents in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties can now view the newly revised Preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps online at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality's Web site at http://geology.deq.ms.gov/floodmaps/status.aspx.

The maps were produced in a partnership of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

For residents who do not have computer access, they may view the maps at one of three public Flood Risk Open Houses that will be held from noon until 8 p.m. Dec. 11-13. Open house locations are:

Dec. 11: Hancock County and incorporated communities, Our Lady of the Gulf Parish Community Center, 228 S. Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis.

Dec. 12: Harrison County and incorporated communities, Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, 2350 Beach Blvd., Biloxi.

Dec. 13: Jackson County and incorporated communities, Jackson County Civic Center,       2902 Short Cut Road, Pascagoula.

At the open houses, residents will be able to view the maps on computers or a printed version. Local, state and federal officials will be available to help answer questions.

Property owners, realtors, lenders and insurance agents are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about flood risk and hazard mitigation within their communities.

Residents can also ask questions about the flood maps by calling 1-866-816-2804.  The phone line is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
