Deputy Shot After Stopping Man In Stolen Truck

The man involved in a shootout with authorities Friday night has been identified. He is 32-year-old Marvin Edwards of Milton, Florida. Edwards is being treated at Gulf Coast Medical Center after being shot in the abdomen by a Biloxi Police officer.

Police say Harrison County deputy Clay Daniels stopped a stolen pickup truck on Highway 90 around seven Friday night. Police say while another deputy was writing a citation, Edwards got out of the car and pulled a gun on Daniels. Officials say a scuffle broke out, and the suspect was shot twice. He was in critical condition last night. Deputy Clay Daniels was shot in both arms. Sheriff Payne visited him this morning and says he is doing well.
