This Veteran's Day, Salute Our Past And Present Men And Women In Uniform

This Sunday is Veterans Day. A day set aside to honor living veterans who served in the military during wartime or peace time.

Saturday morning there is a parade in Gulfport, as well as several other ceremonies in South Mississippi.

To often we take our veterans for granted. Many of them spend weeks if not years away from their families and loved ones.

Surely we can take a few moments out of this upcoming weekend to reflect on the sacrifices many of these individuals have made so we can live in a free society.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is a special place and one reason is because of the large number of veterans who call South Mississippi home.

They are your next door neighbor, your little league coach or a Red Cross volunteer.

President George Bush in a Veterans Day Proclamation said, "Like the heros before them, today a new generation of men and women are fighting for freedom around the globe.

Their determination, courage and sacrifice are laying the foundation for a more secure and peaceful world.

This Veterans Day we salute the men and women who currently or have defended our country around the globe.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to
