Deadly Accident In North Harrison County

A Saucier man died Thursday morning in an accident on Highway 49 in Saucier.

The two vehicle accident occurred shortly after 6:30am at the Old Highway 67 intersection near Saucier Elementary, an intersection where numerous accidents have occurred.

Coroner Gary Hargrove says Leon Goodrich was crossing Highway 49 in his SUV east to west, when a pick-up slammed into the passenger side. The impact killed his brother, 54-year-old John Goodrich.

The driver of the SUV and the pick-up driver, Robert Fairley were both treated and released. No charges have been filed at this time.

Hargrove says it's possible the blinding sun was a contributing factor in the accident.
