Biloxi Farmer's Market Now Open

Fresh fruits and vegetables are now on sale at Point Cadet Plaza.

The Charles Hegwood Farmer's Market opened this week in Biloxi. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, plants, homemade jellies and live poultry.

Right now, most of the produce come from suppliers in Florida and California. But soon, you'll see more homegrown produce sold at the market.

"A few weeks, we'll show you some produce," George County farmer Syrl Fairley said. "A lot of it's going to be greens, English peas, snap beans. Wait a little longer, there will be sweet corn, maybe squash before the sweet corn, and cucumbers."

The farmer's market is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.
