Late Monday afternoon, capital murder charges were filed against the two people linked to the October 18 Isle of Capri murder. And now, authorities are trying to get Weldon Leagea and Chana Wells transferred from jail cells in Louisiana to Biloxi.
Investigators say Leagea and Wells attempted to rob Jim Johnson II while the Hot Springs, Arkansas man was staying at the Isle of Capri. During the alleged robbery, Johnson was shot twice, and died.
Biloxi investigators would not say why the two suspects followed Johnson to his hotel room. And they didn't release how much money they allegedly tried to steal. harges were filed after evidence was collected from the victim's hotel room, and from Leagea's car.
Leagea is currently in the Hunts Correctional Facility near Baton Rouge. Wells is also incarcerated in the Baton Rouge area. Police say both are being held on parole violations. So, extradicting them back to Biloxi to face capital murder charges may take a bit longer.
The shooting victim was in Biloxi on October 18 with an Arkansas golf group.
