Standoff With Authorities Ends Peacefully

A Jackson County man surrendered to authorities after barricading himself in his home for three hours Thursday evening.

Authorities have not released the man who was taken for psychological evaluation.

The standoff began around 3 p.m. at a home on 22nd Street near the Gulf Park Estates subdivision in Ocean Springs. Sheriff's deputies say the barricaded himself inside a home and fired several shots outside of the window.

That street was closed, and police began negotiating with the man.

No one was injured in the incident.
