Byron Sanders Named Mississippi Gatorade Player Of The Year

Byron Sanders was a major factor for the Harrison Central Red Rebels run at the 5A State basketball championship title before losing in overtime to the Gulfport Admirals in the title showdown.  It's been announced that Sanders, the 6 foot 9 senior, has been named Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year.

Sanders averaged 13 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked 5 shots per game during the 2001-2002 season.  He's expected to sign a college basketball scholarship with the North Carolina Tarheels next week.
