Two D'Iberville Casino Projects In The Works

For years, D'Iberville has heard that it's close to becoming a casino town. But plans have never been presented to the city. That fact changed when two different casino groups who have legal sites west of the I-110 bridge filled out applications at City Hall.

Mark Seymour's project is right next to I-110. Peter Simon's proposal is closer to Rodriguez Street. D'Iberville leaders believe the time is right for both casinos to finally be built.

"The opportunity in D'Iberville for gaming, and for condo development and for retail is tremendous in this little town. It is the gateway to south Mississippi. We believe that right here at I-10 and I-110, at the shore of the Biloxi back bay is the best site for gaming on the Mississippi coast," City Manager Richard Rose said.

The Seymour project will be presented to D'Iberville's planning department on October ninth.

The Simon casino won't be unveiled until a meeting right after Thanksgiving.
