Catholics Celebrate St. Joseph Feast

Catholics celebrated the feast of St. Joseph Tuesday.

Many churches recognize the occasion by displaying a St. Joseph's altar. One such altar is on display at the Knights of Columbus Hall in downtown Biloxi.

The tradition of the altar dates back centuries ago when Sicilian farmers prayed to St. Joseph to relieve their land of famine and drought.

The various foods represent the Blessed Trinity. Catholics use the altar as a reminder that those who enjoy good fortune, must share with those in need.
