Gulfport Man Charged With Two Bank Robberies

He wore a t-shirt that said "Jesus Saves," but it didn't protect a suspected bank robber from a trip to jail.

William Thomas Triplett was arrested Thursday and charged with robbing two Gulfport banks - the BanCorp South branch on 5th Street Wednesday, and the Hancock Bank at Crossroads Center Thursday morning.

Police say just before 10am, Triplett walked into the Hancock Bank branch and demanded money. Witnesses told police he was wearing a "Jesus Saves" t-shirt and got away in a Green Jeep Cherokee.

Police say when they stopped the jeep on 25th Avenue a short time later, they arrested Chad and Julia Hoda of the Kiln. The Hodas are charged in connection with Thursday's bank robbery, and with accessory after the fact.

Triplett, from Gulfport, was arrested near 54th Avenue. He faces two counts of robbery.

All are being held in the Harrison County Jail.
