Gulfport Biloxi International Airport Unveils Master Plan

The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport has a new Master Plan. Almost every ten years the Airport Authority and its planners study the growth potential of the airport and ways to improve the facility.

The Master Plan took two years to complete and cost the airport $325,000. Airport Director Bruce Frallic says the plan projects as far away as 20 years.

The five year projection includes things like expanding the terminal building and baggage claim area, the installation of check-on baggage screening machines, and runway extensions.

The Master Plan also covers the environmental and noise impact these improvements would have on the surrounding areas. It also looks at the best ways the airport can keep up with demand and still co-exist peacefully with neighboring communities.
