Man's Body Found In The Mississippi Sound

Someone made a gruesome discovery in the waters of the Mississippi Sound Monday. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the body of a man was found about five miles south of the Coast Coliseum Monday afternoon. The call was received about 12:30pm.

Hargrove told WLOX News that the body was badly decomposed and had been in the water for at least several days. There was no identification on the body, and no one has been reported missing from a boat in the past two weeks.

Hargrove said the man was wearing navy blue Cargo Pants and no shirt, but that was the only identifiable feature. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.

Officials with the Department of Marine Resources, the Coast Guard and the Harrison County Sheriff's Department all worked on the recovery effort.  Anyone with information about the case should contact the sheriff's department.
