MDA Telethon Continues Labor Day Tradition At WLOX

It's a Labor Day tradition, raising money to help our friends and neighbors who have one of the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases under the MDA umbrella.

For the past 14 years WLOX has joined in this fund raising effort bringing you the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.  We've seen first hand how your donations to MDA makes a difference in the lives of south Mississipians.

We get choked up when we see the smile on little Zachary's face, and we marvel at the hope in Brittany's heart. It's your generosity that makes the happiness and the hope possible.

This year MDA is spending more than 38 million dollars on research, and funding 350 projects world wide. And that dedication to research is paying off.

For example MDA has found a lifesaving treatment for infants born with one form of muscular dystrophy.

Research breakthroughs for treatments and potential cures offer hope to Zachary, Brittany, Austin, Domonique, Shelley and so many other local children and adults who we've grown to love over the past 14 years.

The best part is, you have a role in this Labor Day success story.  Your donations fund the research, the breakthroughs and the services that help fellow south Mississippians live with neuromuscular disease.

Thank you for being so generous.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
