USDA Grant/Loan To Fund New D'Iberville Health Clinic

It's big boost for health care in South Mississippi. Thursday afternoon, Senator Trent Lott and USDA officials presented an $800,000 check to the Coastal Family Health Center in Biloxi.

The amount - $400,000 in loans, and $400,000 in grants - will help fund the new D'Iberville Health Clinic and Emergency Shelter. The clinic will provide medical care for people who are uninsured or under-insured.

"A lot of folks think all we do is housing, but we do a number of different things from health care, to public safety, just a number of things. So we're hoping that this will do great things for the community, providing behavioral health care, substance abuse and medical treatment in the area," USDA Rural Development State Director John Rounsaville said.

The D'Iberville Clinic will be built on Big Ridge Road. It will cost about $1.6 million.
