WLOX Report Gets Action On Leaky Water Meter

We have a follow up success story for an Escatawpa woman who'd been battling to get her leaky water meter fixed.

Last week, WLOX introduced you to Hattie Laffoon, who spent more than a year trying to get the Moss Point Public Works Department to repair the meter.

Laffoon told our Patrice Clark the leak was so bad that it flooded her yard, and attracted hundreds of mosquitoes daily.

After our story, Moss Point Mayor Xavier Bishop called his workers to fix the water meter.

Laffoon says she's happy the problem is finally resolved.

"WLOX is right there, that's what we needed. I'm telling you, they're good. They do their point, they do the job. I do not have to deal with the mosquitoes. Now I can enjoy the outdoors, and I can light my torches, and fire up my grill," Laffoon said.

Because of the leak, no one has been able to read Laffoon's water meter. Instead, her bill was estimated all this time. With the fix, she'll now get an accurate bill.
