N.A.A.C.P. Calls For Investigation

The Jackson County N.A.A.C.P. is calling on the state attorney general Mike Moore to investigate the Moss Point police department. In a letter to Moore, Curly Clark, the head of the organization, claims numerous civil rights violations have occurred in the police department.

Clark also says internal investigations in the city are not working, and citizens complaints have been ignored by the police chief, the mayor, and the board of aldermen.

The police department has been under fire since last year, when three officers were indicted on manslaughter charges in the death of Marcus Malone. Malone died in jail a short time after being arrested.
