A jury was seated Monday in the trial of two former Harrison County jailers, Ryan Teel and Rick Gaston.
Teel and Gaston face federal charges for assaulting inmates in the jail. The two are the only defendants left in the trial. Eight other former jailers have pleaded guilty to various charges and are cooperating with the government in the case.
The trial comes 18 months after inmate Jessie Lee Williams was beaten to death in the jail's booking room.
Judge Louis Guirola said Monday morning that the trial should last about two weeks.
The all white jury comes from the Laurel and Hattiesburg area and includes an elementary school librarian, an occupational therapist, a professional artist, and an M-DOT employee.
