$100,000 Returned To Jackson County Taxpayers

$100,000 stolen from Jackson County taxpayers is back in county coffers. On Wednesday, State Auditor Phil Bryant presented a check to County Clerk Joe Martin.

The money came from a 2004 embezzlement case. Former Deputy Circuit Clerk Lori Abel pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from the county. Abel was sentenced to five years in prison and given five years of probation.
