The re-design of traffic flow at the Ocean Springs Road and Highway 90 intersection will be the focus of a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Civic Center.
District 5 Supervisor John McKay is hosting the public meeting to inform residents and local drivers of the upcoming plans to improve this intersection.
"I'm encouraging all residents who use this intersection on a regular basis to attend the Town Hall Meeting," McKay said. "This will be the final chance for the public to ask questions, view the final road layout and see where all the traffic controls will be located."
Along with the County Supervisors, the meeting will also be attended by officials from the City of Oceans Springs, Jimmy Gouras (Urban Planning Consultant) and Neel-Schaffer Engineering.
The re-design of the current Ocean Spring Rd. and Hwy. 90 intersection is being funded through a state block grant which the Board of Supervisors was awarded. Jackson County has been the lead agency on this project, but it is a joint venture with the City of Ocean Springs, MDOT, the State's grant program and OS Hospital.
"We are experiencing a considerable amount of growth on Ocean Springs Road both in terms of traffic volume and property development. To manage that growth, it is vital we have a safe and efficient layout for that intersection," McKay said.
