Gulfport Council Votes To Begin Negotiations On VA Property Development

Saying it's time to move forward, the Gulfport City Council unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday to begin negotiations with the three developers interested in the VA property.

Council members didn't debate the merits of the companies. They spent about 20 minutes explaining why they waited almost a week before they endorsed what a committee recommended.

Once council members read what each group brought to the table, they realized the companies should be part of the revitilzation of that waterfront area.

Councilwoman Barbara Nalley said it's time the city make a major commitment to the VA property, the harbor area, and the downtown area. All three areas were hit hard by the hurricane.
