There was a heat wave of a different sort in Jackson county overnight. The narcotics task force completed its third phase of Operation heat stroke in Pascagoula overnight. In these sweeps, undercover narcotics agents saturate an area of Jackson county to detect and deter crime. This operation led to fifty traffic citations ranging from driving with a suspended license to no seat belt.
It also netted twenty misdemeanor arrests ranging from simple possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct... to D-U-I. Twelve felony arrests were made. They ranged from transfer of a controlled substance, crack cocaine, to possesion of a stolen firearm and shoplifting. A stolen vehicle was also recovered.
Operation Heat Stroke will continue through fall.
