Steel Guitar Show Plays St. Martin

The sounds of the steel guitar are still ringing throughout the St. Martin Community Center at the Deep South Steel Guitar Show.

Through midnight Saturday, a lineup of steel guitar players from across the nation are showing off their stuff to local players and fans alike.

Bill Stafford who heads up the Deep South Steel Guitar Association says many of these musicians have played with country legends Willie Nelson, Dolly Pardon, Ray Price, and Bob Wills. And he says seeing and hearing them in person is a real treat.

"A lot of the local players aren't able to go to all the shows and meet their heroes who played on all the records that you hear . So now the guys are coming down here that played on all the records, and get to meet our local players who are learning. So they get to knock hands with them and rub heads and it's just a lot of fun," Stafford said.

Again, the show runs until midnight Saturday night at the St. Martin Community Center. There's a $10 cover charge and kids get in free.
