Drivers Should Expect Hwy 90 Traffic Delays Near Hard Rock

Hard Rock's early opening, means Biloxi Police are preparing for a crush of traffic downtown.

Police have already issued tickets to some employees and visitors around Hard Rock, Beau Rivage and the Town Green for parking on sidewalks, in handicapped spots or in front of fire hydrants on city streets in that area.

Police Chief Bruce Dunagan says drivers should expect back up on Highway 90 and I-110 Saturday and Sunday and he has extra help available.

"I asked the Sheriff's Department, so we'll have some deputies helping us out on the highway. Our traffic unit will be out there and we'll have some of the Hard Rock security out there on the highway with us with their radios. So when the parking lot fills up, we'll know and there won't be a lag for them to run across the street, and that will assist us so things will run smoother. Hopefully the public will bear with us," Chief Dunagan said.

Dunagan says if the traffic back up around the casinos gets too bad, officers will keep cars moving and turn them north off of Highway 90.
