Fire Leaves Six Moss Point Families Homeless

In Moss Point, six families are homeless after fire swept through the Indian Oak Apartments Tuesday. It happened shortly before noon.

Fire Chief Mike Dale said the fire started in the laundry room, then spread to an upstairs apartment where a woman was sleeping. No one was injured.

Several apartments were destroyed, and the damage estimate is more than $300,000.

Chief Dale said his crew arrived on scene within three minutes of the call, and 13 firemen helped to put out the flames.

The fire displaced more than 35 residents. The Red Cross is helping house and feed those victims.
