Ingalls Delivers Again

The US Navy's fleet grew by one ship today in Pascagoula. Officials from Ingalls shipyard signed over the USS Shoup to the Navy, and her new crew, during a traditional ceremony. The Shoup is the 16th guide missile destroyer Ingalls workers have built for the Navy, at a cost of around 1 billion dollars.

Most of the Shoup's crew was on hand for the turn over, along with Northrop Grumman's new president of shipbuilding, Dr. Phil Durr.

The Shoup will remain at Ingalls shipyard until June to complete crew training, then leave for commissioning in Seattle, Washington.
