Dump Cleanup To Begin In Pascagoula

Crews in Pascagoula will be rolling up their sleeves this week to tackle the city's dumping problem.

City officials say they will clean two illegal dump sites starting Tuesday, and they are investigating two other sites. The grounds are covered with everything from bottles to car doors.

Officials say part of a $50,000 grant will be used to pay for the cleanup project, and they hope residents will help keep the areas clean once they are cleared.

"If any of the citizens see anything, please call us," solid waste administrator David Groves said. "If you see an illegal dump site, call us, we'll come check it out, see what we can do to get it cleaned up. If you see someone going down a road then spot a bunch of debris afterwards, let us know about it. We need the help."

If you see illegal dumping in Pascagoula or know of any illegal sites please call 228-938-6257.
