More Should Be Done To Protect People From Vicious Dogs

In the past several months, there have been two vicious dog attacks, both of them involving Pit Bulls.

One attack occurred as a minister and his wife were walking outside their Moss Point parsonage. Both had to undergo surgery. Another occurred in Biloxi when three pit bulls attacked a lady walking down the street, knocking her to the street and mauling her. Thankfully several people came to her rescue.

Something drastic needs to be done to protect our residents from such vicious dogs. All cities have dog leash laws on the books, but in the two recent cases, the laws did not protect the innocent victims.

We believe it's time for the cities to enforce laws on the books to the utmost degree. This should include jail time.

Unless we do something drastic here on the coast, we might one day hear a story where a Pit Bull has killed a person. It's time to let your city council members know that you want something done to have stiffer laws on the books involving the ownership of Pit Bulls.
