Neptune Parade Keeps The Good Times Rolling In Biloxi

Bright sun and a cool breeze greeted the Neptune parade as it moved down Main Street. Those in the crowd raised their arms and their voices for the expected throws.

Competition for beads, cups and doubloons is often intense. Folks do whatever it takes to attract attention.

The Biloxi High band didn't worry about catching beads. They stayed intent on keeping the beat and enduring the march.

It's the colorful, creative floats that make Neptune so special. Everything from a giant jukebox to an underwater explorer to this big football player here for the Super Bowl of Carnival.

Float riders dangle the coveted bounty from high above the anxious crowds. The riders often decide who gets the best beads.

"The young ones, I look for the old ones, I look for the people who don't look like they're having a good time," one float reveler said.
