Group Honors Businesses, One City, For Beautification Efforts

The Mississippi Renaissance Garden Foundation announced the recipients of its first "Bringing Back the Beauty" awards Tuesday night at IP Casino Resort in Biloxi.

It's part of a campaign to renew an emphasis on beautification in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. 

"We want to create an awareness of the importance of appearance, landscaping, and freedom from litter to the Gulf Coast as well as to recognize those businesses and municipalities who are in the forefront of caring about civic pride and the importance of appearance in restoring the souls of our community," said Linda Saxon Nix, Vice President of MRG.

    Multiple accidents on the I-110 bridge in Biloxi are causing major traffic delays.  Biloxi Police say both southbound lanes of the bridge are closed to traffic while authorities work to clean up after two separate crashes.
