New Tracking System Nabs An Unregistered Sex Offender

Gulfport's new tracking system has helped the police department catch more than just stolen cars. Police say the new technology helped them arrest a Mississippi man who had failed to register as a sex offender.

Robert W. Maye, 43, of Monticello was on Highway 90 when the tracking system notified police of his whereabouts. The system showed Wayne's vehicle listed on the National Crime Information Computer by the state as having violated state law for not registering.

Maye is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is pending.
