Search Goes On for U.S.M. President

Members of the University of Southern Mississippi campus advisory committee met yesterday to recommend ten presidential candidates to the state College Board. The committee has reviewed about 50 resumes as the first step toward finding a successor to Horace Fleming.

Fleming resigned in July when the College Board offered to renew his contract for one year instead of four. Aubrey Lucas, who retired in December 1996, returned to serve as interim president.

The College Board will not release names of any of the presidential hopefuls until four or five are chosen for on-campus visits in April.
