Albertson's Grocery In Gulfport Closing Thursday

Albertson's is closing its Gulfport store.

Officials say the store will close Thursday because it "does not provide shareholder value.''

The Boise, Idaho-based grocery chain is offering the 90 people who work at the Gulfport store the option to transfer to other stores.

Albertson's will be left with six stores in Mississippi. Jackson and Southaven each have two, and Brandon and Ridgeland have one each. The Albertson's in Hattiesburg closed in December and the one in Tupelo was sold to Kroger last month.
