NMCB 7 Changes Hands Friday

On Friday, Commander John J. Adametz takes over as Commanding Officer of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion SEVEN (NMCB 7).     

The ceremony will bring an end to a very successful tour for Commander David J. Sasek, who led NMCB 7 in the initial response to Hurricane Katrina. NMCB 7 provided search and recovery efforts, demolition, debris removal, road clearing and repair, and assisted two wastewater treatment facilities in the resumption of services to over 200,000 residents. 

In February 2006, Commander Sasek also guided NMCB 7 through a very successful deployment to Kuwait, the Horn of Africa and associated deployment sites encompassing over 24 locations, thirteen countries and four continents. 

Commander Sasek is now headed to Naples, Italy to become the Assistant Regional Engineer for Naval Facilities Engineering Command Europe.    

Commander Adametz comes to NMCB 7 from Commander, Navy Installations Command where he served as the Facility Support Services Branch Head and as Joint Basing Branch Head. 

During his career, Commander Adametz has served as Gunnery Officer and Electrical/Auxiliaries Officer aboard the USS NASHVILLE (LPD-13).  He transferred to the Civil Engineer Corps in 1992 and served as the Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1994 he reported to Public Works Center Norfolk, Virginia and served as Flag Housing Officer. 

In 1997, Commander Adametz reported to NMCB 7 and served as Assistant Operations Officer, Officer in Charge Joint Task Force Saint Lucia, and Training Officer.  In 1999, he reported to Naval Station Rota, Spain as Public Works Department Operations Officer, then became the Assistant Public Works Officer.  In 2000, Commander Adametz served with NATO KOSOVO Force J4 Engineers, Pristina, Kosovo.
