St. James Catholic Church Says Good Bye To Priest

A longtime Gulfport priest is saying good-bye to his congregation.

After a dozen years at St. James Catholic Church Monsignor James McGough is leaving. He led his last mass as pastor of the church on Sunday night.

McGough says the Diocese is transferring him to a church in Waveland because 12 years is the maximum time that a priest can serve at one parish. He says it will not be an easy change.

"You get to know some people better than others," Msgr. McGough said. "They become part of the fabric of your life as it were and to let them go is difficult."

After the mass, the congregation held a reception McGough's honor.
