Copa Casino's New Barge Moved On Sunday

There's now something missing from the back bay in D'Iberville. Right next to the bridge on the northwest side... is now a space where an empty barge sat for several years. Early Sunday morning, workers moved the barge to the port of Gulfport where it will soon become the new Copa Casino.

Copa officials have been waiting for several weeks for the right weather conditions to move the barge. The winds finally calmed down enough on Sunday to finish the job.

The barge will be in the east pier for remodeling work. Copa Casino owner Rick Carter says it should open for gaming in June or July.
