Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74 Return Home

Shortly after 6 Saturday evening, about 200 members of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74 returned to the waiting arms of their loved ones at the Gulfport homeport.

During their deployment, the unit served in Guam, Southwest Asia, and Afghanistan, working on projects ranging from a new mechanic shop and base laundry facility, to replacing a temporary bridge over a canal. Everyone expressed a sense of accomplishment upon their return tonight, but also a sense of relief to be back on American soil.

"It was a good time. We had fun and made the best of it," says BU-3 Chrisy Greenert of Cincinnati Ohio. "I'm going to take time with family and friends. You just realize how great life is when you come back from over there," says CS-3 Will Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama.

The unit has also conducted repair work on 2 twelve hundred foot runways during their deployment.
