Kids Skip School, Gulfport Parents Go To Jail

Parents of kids who skip school are going to jail. Gulfport Police arrested 15 parents who Harrison County truancy officers say have children who are not going to school.

The parents and their children are in violation of a state statute for called "Compulsory School Attendance."

The statue says a student is only allowed 12 unexcused absences during school year, and that the daytime curfew for the city of Gulfport is 9:00a.m.-2:00p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year.

Gulfport Police have also made five curfew arrests since last week.
