S.S. Camille Tugboat May Become A Victim Of Progress

An enduring symbol of Hurricane Camille, may not be around much longer.

The S.S. Camille is a tugboat that washed ashore in West Gulfport during Hurricane Camille in 1969. Since then, it's been a popular tourist attraction connected with a nearby souvenir shop.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed the gift shop, so the owner plans to sell the property. The rusting tugboat, which survived Katrina, will likely be scrapped.
