Walking 36 miles is tremendous physical challenge, but some Jackson County teens are taking on the challenge and walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. The long trek signifies Jesus' long walk to Calvary.
The two day walk kicked off Good Friday morning as 60 young people trekked along Highway 90 in Gautier. The teenagers plan to continue the journey through Pascagoula, Moss Point and the Hurley community.
"It is a long walk, but it helps us identify and say we are so thankful for Jesus Christ. He died for us so we can have eternal life, and he walked despite the people who beat him and spit upon him. We are willing to identify and say, 'We love Christ.' And we will do what we can to help him," organizer Robb Reiser said.
During this walk, the group will also be raising money for missionaries in Africa.
