Gulfport's Mayor In Florida To Learn About Affordable Housing

Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr is in St. Petersburg, Florida this week to learn about affordable housing. He was asked to serve on a panel for a conference on the subject.

This comes just days after the city of Gulfport came under harsh criticism from the Director of the Mississippi Region Eight Housing Authority. Roy Necaise accused city leaders of practicing discrimination by keeping affordable housing out of Gulfport.

"The timing is quite interesting, actually. I hope to learn some things that I can bring back and help maybe come up with some good resolutions for our project, " Warr told WLOX News.

Mayor Warr also says he hopes Gulfport can serve as a national model when it comes to high-quality affordable housing.
