Hard Rock Casino Hopes For Lucky Number 7

Lucky number 7 is what Hard Rock Casino is betting on. The Biloxi casino plans to hold its grand opening July 7th which is 7/7/07. Hard Rock was days away from opening in 2005 when Katrina hit.

Building Biloxi's Hard Rock Casino is like deja vu for Charles Neel.

"The first time we built it," said Neel. "It was almost open and didn't make it."

Hard Rock is already setting the stage for a second shot at opening its theatre. But first, everything from lights and sound to the box suites must be just right.

Karl Bulot is the Senior Vice President of Non-Gaming Operations.

"Hard Rock Live is all about the music," said Bulot. "We want to make sure we get full by in from the local community on their styles of music, but have a lot of versatility in our acts and we've got to make it as comfortable as possible for them to come and enjoy their music at Hard Rock Live."

What now looks like a construction zone is slowly being transformed into the Hard Rock's casino floor, which will feature 1450 slot machines and 56 table games. Guests will also be able to dine at five different restaurants.

Bulot said, "We started driving piles in this area on September 1st or the early part of September. As you can see right now, we're shooting for our 7/7 grand opening. We're progressing nicely. We kept all the major elements in play because we like so much, and we want the locals to see what we had before with a few nicer enhancements and a more comfortable feel for them."

Workers say they can't wait to show the rest of the world the kind of Hard Rock they saw just before Katrina.

"For us, the feeling of rebuilding what we absolutely love in spite of Katrina and we were so proud to present to the city of Biloxi and everyone else. It's just a feeling like no other," said Bulot. " The anticipation of everyone finally getting to see it is going to be unbelievable for us."

Hard Rock casino officials say as the work on the sections of the property over land wrap up, they'll be able to focus their attention more on the casino, which is on pilings.

Mississippi’s giant house party might not have the fanfare of 2016. But, it’s still a must visit event for families across the magnolia state. This year is not a political year in Mississippi. So, the political stumping is not nearly as significant as it can be. Yet, this Wednesday and Thursday, people will gather under the pavilion at Founders Square and listen to a series of speeches from Mississippi’s elected leaders.
