College Board Restructuring Wins Full Senate Approval

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- A shuffling of districts from which state College Board members are selected won approval Thursday in the Mississippi Senate.

The vote was 44-2.

The proposal would provide that College Board members be chosen from each of four congressional districts. Three board members would come from each district.

Any constitutional change must be approved first by lawmakers and second by voters.

Senators rejected a series of amendments to require appointments from each of the eight universities.
