Pensacola Ice Pilots Land A 5-3 Victory Over The Mississippi Sea Wolves

The Mississippi Sea Wolves (21-19-0) had blazed a trail under the win column entering the Pensacola (22-16-4) game with 4 straight wins. The visiting Ice Pilots cracked the games first goal at 6:48 of the first period. Louis Dumont netted his 17th goal of the season. Bob Quinnell and John Tripp got the assists.

At 7:33 of the period Brent Gauvreau took advantage of an Ice Pilots defensive mistake. Gauvreau snagged the puck, powered the puck off Pensacola goalie Evgeny Konstantinov tying the game 1-all.

It looked as if the Sea Wolves had taken a 2-1 lead in the second period. However the referee waved off Francois Fortier's goal. He said the puck hit the post.

Fortier would not be denied. He slapped home two 3rd period pucks, his 16th and 17th goals of the season giving the Sea Wolves a 3-2 lead at 10:28 of the final period.

Pensacola would explode netting three goals in the final six-minutes and 22 seconds. Bob Quinnell scored at 13:38, Greg Pankewicz netted his 22nd goal of the season at 17:45, and Louis Dumont drove home an empty netter at 19:27. That gave Pensacola a come-from-behind 5-3 win ending the Sea Wolves win streak at 4 games.

Sea Wolves goalie Evan Lindsay stopped 21 of 26 shots on goal while Ice Pilots goalie Konstantinov stopped 40 of 43 shots on goal.

Mississippi travels to Columbus, Georgia facing the Cottonmouths Friday and Saturday and return home Sunday at ^:05 hosting the New Orleans Brass.
