New Four-Way Stop In Vancleave

The Jackson County Road Department is announcing a new four-way stop for Vancleave Community and a new bridge replacement in the Fountainbleau Community for Monday, March 5.

County crews will install two additional stop signs at the intersection of Seaman Road and Old Fort Bayou Road on Monday morning. Currently, there are no stop signs for drivers on Old Fort Bayou Rd. This change will convert the intersection into a permanent four-way stop.

The Road Dept. will close part of Fountainbleau Road (west of Point Aux Chenes Road intersection) to replace a small wooden piling bridge with a new concrete culvert bridge. This section of Fountainbleau Rd. is scheduled to be closed for six weeks. Drivers can detour around the construction area by using Old Spanish Trail and Hamill Farm Road.

This is the third of a four phase bridge replacement project to provide safer roads and better drainage in Fountainbleau. Crews have completed work on the first two bridges and will be opening those bridges on Monday morning. In total, this project will cost more than $400,000.

All drivers are asked to use caution around these sites during construction.  Pay special attention to traffic signs, road workers and heavy equipment. Weather conditions could affect the length of road closures for each of these projects.
