Cemetery Space At A Premium

The city of Biloxi is running out of space in its public cemetery. Fewer than 200 burial plots are left in the cemetery that has been a burial ground for more than two centuries. Though no formal proposal is before the city council, some members have discussed building a community mausoleum.

Councilman Charles Harrison Junior says the board has already begun asking about the cost of such a project, and what options are available. But Councilman Eric Dickey, whose family owns a funeral home business, says mausoleum spaces would cost thousands of dollars, and be too expensive for residents.
