Teenager Shoots Father

A domestic dispute on the Gulf Coast ends with the wounding of a Jackson County man and the arrest of his son. Authorities say 18-year-old Wayne A. Hood Junior is charged with aggravated assault. His first court appearance was earlier today.

Lieutenant Ken McClenic of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department says Hood is accused of shooting his father in the leg yesterday. McClenic says the suspect allegedly threatened his mother, but his father stepped in the way. Authorities say the man was shot with a Russian-made S-K-S-45 assault rifle. McClenic says this isn't the suspect's first brush with the law.

McClenic says Hood was charged in April as an accomplice in a drive-by shooting in Ocean Springs and is also out on bond for commercial burglary.
